Wearable Art coming to the Regent (Copy)

Yarram’s Regent Theatre has hosted many fashions shows over the years.

But it has been many years since the majestic theatre has hosted a catwalk show.

On Sunday February 16 the catwalk show will return with the Yarram Wearable Art showcase at 2 pm.

Organiser Rochelle Carmichael is well qualified to run such a show, She has extensive experience in this field.

Rochelle is a , multi award-winning independent physical theatre director, contemporary dance choreographer, past performer.

In the past, Rochelle received the Melbourne Fringe Festival ‘Movement Award; for Aoroi,

Rochelle moved to the area during Covid times. She has been eager to use her skills to bring a productions to Yarram and has worked tirelessly for the past 12 months putting the show together.

It is a show that merges recycling, fashion and art together. It also showcase the talented artists and designers in the local community.

“We have lots of designers, and models. Our models range in age from teenages to early 90’s which is fantastic,” Rochelle said.

öur designer, are from many different backgrounds,”she said. Öur local secondary school have really gotten behind it and we are all excited to see what they have designed and will show on the day.

After the catwalk show, the garments will be on display at the Yarram Courthouse Gallery and then hopefully we will be able to do a display in the main street during the Easter Tarra Festival.

“These designers have put a great deal of time and effort into creating these designs and we want to give them as much exposure as we can.”

This event will be the first of what is hoped to be an annual event

Sundays show will commence at 2 pm. Entry is $10 per adult with children under 14 free. The Regent Theatre committee will open the bar for refreshments.
