About
When Covid lockdowns caused the demise of The Yarram Standard after 145 years of continuous publication, it devastated the local community.
As a journalist with The Standard for over 20 years, I could not sit by and leave our tight knit community with out their local news, so after weeks of deliberation I decided to start up The Bridge.
At first it was a newsletter to fill the gap until The Standard returned but after some weeks it was clear that The Standard would not return, so the next step to a real newspaper was taken.
With the help of former type setter with The Standard, Mark Drury, the first newspaper was published August 5.
Since then another former colleague, Grace Griffith, has come onboard to support the growth of the brand, setting up the website.
The mission of The Bridge is to connect our local communities with news, sport and entertainment from around the district.
The paper is available in hardcopy from Sale through to Foster.
We look forward to launching our online subscription model in the coming weeks.
Hard copy subscriptions are available now.
Supporting our local community is the number one priority and we hope that the community will return that support to ensure the longevity of The Bridge.
