Woodside Yarram undefeated
Yarram knocked off Heyfield and Woodside accounted for Cowwarr in round four of local footy.
Out at Woodside, the home side were hot favourites going into this game undefeated from their three starts.. Cowwarr on the other hand had suffered losses in their two matches, Sale City (60 points) and YYN (41 points)
Cowwarr, fresh off a bye adjusted to the slippery conditions better than their opponents and took a 13-point lead into the first break.
Kicking with a slight breeze in the second, Woodside worked the ball around, switching play and giving their forwards every opportunity to finish their hard work. Slipping out to a 10-point lead at halftime.
Woodside’s backline was under pressure from the determined Cowwarr forwards. The start of the third quarter saw the Woodside big guns bolster their backline which was without Johnston and Stephens
Woodside stretched their lead by 25 points by the three-quarter time break.
Cowwarr were down but not out as they came out of that final huddle fired up but whatever they threw at the Wildcats, the home side absorbed to go on and win the match my 39 points
After a slow start by his own lofty standards, Woodside’s Dan Farmer finished the day with 5 goals, while Cowwars coach Keegan Hughes kicked three.
Matt Dyke was named best on the ground for the home side with Hayden Hector getting the nod from the visitor’s brains trust.

Yarram undefeated
IN Yarram, the home side were taking on Heyfield. Both sides were undefeated going into this match.
Yarram had two goals on the board in the first five minutes. t. A big mark to Brown brought up the Roos first major and the young Heyfield outfit settled into their game plan to lead by eight points at quarter time.
Tackling and stoppages were the order of the day with both teams going hard at the football. Yarram managed to wrestle the lead back by the halftime break.
Yarram onballers continued to win the centre clearance and delivered the ball to their forwards with precision enabling them to open up a 13 point advantage at three-quarter time.
This game was a physical one and by the final term, the young Heyfield team were feeling the effects of this pressure game. Yarram’s experience saw them hold onto their lead and go on to win by 24 points.
Kayleb Pearce and Levi Munns instrumental in the Demon’s win while Josh Swift climbed to the top of the Goal Kicking list with five goals. Tyson Graham was Heyfield major scorer with two.

Yarram netball news
SUN shined as the juniors took the court on Saturday morning, but the fresh air and rain led in from the start of the seniors and maintained wet slippery conditions on court.
Juniors again had a tough battle against the more experienced visitors. Coach Stacey said “Hard side but fought with all they had, so much improvement and positives to take away from the game”. Best on was awarded to Bianca Newton & Steph Morrey. Final score for u15s was 1-77 and u17s 8-48, Heyfield proving to be the stronger force in both sides.
In the D grade, a tenacious battle from the underdog demons who had spectators on the edge of their seats for 4 quarter battle against the more established kangaroos. Unfortunately the final minutes of the last quarter showed how a few errors and nervous hands can change the tide of the game. Resulting in a 2 goal defeat for the demons. Final score was 21-23. Best on was awarded to Manawa Apiata and Ella Farley. Auction player was Rachel Summerfield.
C grade had a great win in slippery conditions. A solid game with some fantastic and exciting passages of play. The team had fantastic pressure the length of the court and backed each other well. A super effort for all. Final score 33-15 demons way. Best on was awarded to Jemma Millier and the Auction player was Sharelle Roberts.
Defence end in B grade made an outstanding effort and sent the ball back down the court many times. Centre court positioned well and continued the flow. The Goal end worked hard but just not able to match Heyfield's score. Final score was 31-48. Defence end Mel Brand earned Best on court and Ruby Heasley won voucher. Auction player was Madison Roberts.
A Grade Rotation to find the right combination was a challenge on Saturday. With the weather hard to combat in wet conditions, the team tried multiple passes to move the ball to the attack end but unfortunately, Heyfield proved to be too strong this week. Back to the training track and keep positively moving forward. Final score was 9-54 Heyfields way. Best on court captain Jess Inman and voucher awarded to Grace Cook. Auction player was Jess Inman.
