First grand finalist

Woodside Youth Girls are the first grand finalist of the 2024 football season.

The Youth girls, who finished fourth on the Division 2 ladder with seven wins and seven losses.

After winning their elimination final against Nar Nar Goon the girls took on Dalyston last Sunday.

After a slow start which saw Dalyston leading at the firs change by three points, the girls lifted and had winners all over the ground.

They led by 7 points at the half time break.

The third quarter was a hard slog for both sides. Daylston did not add to their score while Woodside only manage one point.

Going into the final term, the game was there for the taking for both sides, but it was the Woodside team under coach Travis Dillow and reserve coach Laura Johnston and Amanda Hancock who had instilled a never say die attitude into the team who came away with the win and a place in the grand final.

The girls will now take on the Korrunmburra side at Gaskin Park Churchill this Sunday, August 18 at 10 am.

The Korumburra team are the hot favourites with 13 wins and just the one loss this season.

The Woodside girls have hit form at the right end of the season and and upset could be on the cards.
